Joe Price's expert tips on how to get the 'Runway' look at home

Joe Price tells us how to get the "Runway" look at home—from Miranda’s silver shimmer to Andy’s glossy glow-up.

With The Devil Wears Prada 2 on the horizon, we sat down with Marlow’s much loved hairdresser Joe Price, to talk power hair, iconic transitions, and why your hair is just as important as your designer wardrobe.

Miranda Priestly and the Power of that short silver haircut.

Miranda doesn’t just walk into a room; she commands it. Joe notes that her hair is "very telling" of her status—it’s competent, empowered, and unapologetically glamorous.

Joe’s Insider Secret: To get that shimmery, pearlescent grey without the brassiness, Joe uses Redken Shades EQ at his salon. It’s an acidic gloss that seals the cuticle and gives a gorgeous, "shimmering reflect" without high maintenance. "It’s a colour that thinks it’s a conditioning treatment," Joe explains. "It’s elegant and sheer."

Pro Tip: If you have fine hair, look for the Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate range (specifically the Acidic Gloss or Fall systems) to add strength and shine without the weight.

The "Six" to a "Ten": Andy Sachs

We all remember the moment Andy walked in with those Chanel boots and that hair. Joe points out that her hair transition was just as impactful as the clothes. "It was glossy, tamed, and had that perfect fringe," he says. It’s the look of a woman who finally has her life together.

The Look: To maintain that "Andy" glass-hair finish, Joe recommends the Redken Acidic Colour Gloss Shampoo or, for a more permanent fix, a Hair Botox or smoothing treatment for low-maintenance shine.

The Tool: Joe’s current obsession for that perfect smooth finish? The new GHD Chronos straighteners. "They are amazing," he says.

The Iconic Edge: Emily Blunt

In the original film, Emily’s hair was the epitome of the "Rachel" cut—choppy, layered, and a vibrant, iconic red. Joe admits red hair is his absolute favourite and he feels left out that he didn't inherit from his family, but adds it requires the right products to stay looking great.

Joe tells us his favourite film moment where the character Serena (played by Gisele Bündchen) tells Emily, “Tell me about it. We were in the Beauty Department and she held up this Shu Uemura eyelash curler and said ‘What is this?’

For Joe, Shu Uemura is the "Dior of haircare." If you want that high-fashion, premium feel for your layers, this is the brand to invest in.

Joe’s investment product tip:

If you are going to invest in just one thing to upgrade your regime, Joe says to put your money into the finishing product.

"If you're going to splash out on a great hair product, invest in the final part—a leave-in serum, a finishing oil, or a conditioning mask. It’s the part that gives you that polished, Runway-ready finish."
