Since being taken over by owner Mel, this independent spot has undergone a stunning makeover, transforming into a vibrant "hidden gem" just a stone’s throw from the River Thames with a beautiful terrace that is the best spot in Marlow when the sun is out!

The café prides itself on using local suppliers, serving the award-winning Coopers Coffee and local Rebellion Beer. Whether you’re stopping by for a post-walk treat or a casual lunch, there is something for every craving:

Signature Baps: Locals rave about the thick-cut bacon and sausage rolls.

Authentic Pizzas: Over the weekend and holidays, freshly made and often taken out to enjoy as a picnic in the park.

Sweet Treats: A delicious selection of homemade cakes, pastries, and gluten-free options like their popular carrot cake.

Licensed Bar: For a more relaxed afternoon, they serve wine, prosecco, and cocktails on the terrace.

Since taking over in late 2021

Mel has turned The M Café into more than just a place for a quick caffeine fix—she’s built a genuine community hub. Mel’s transformation of the space was driven by a clear goal: to create a café where everyone, from exhausted parents to local walkers, feels truly welcome. She introduced:

The Play Area: Recognising the need for high-quality, safe spaces for kids, Mel curated the play zone with premium wooden toys from brands like Kids Concept and The Little Dutch Company.

A Community Focus: Her efforts haven't gone unnoticed—Mel and her team recently won the "Best Cuppa" and "Hidden Gems" awards from Marlow FM two years in a row!

Mel's Local Philosophy

Mel is a firm believer in supporting the local economy. She exclusively uses 

Coopers Coffee Bar and local Rebellion Beer because, as she puts it, the best quality often comes from just down the road.

What's your favourite spot in the café? The wisteria-covered terrace overlooking the river—especially on a sunny morning.

Best-selling order? Coffee is number one followed by a toss-up between our  bacon rolls and fresh pizzas served at weekends and over the holidays. 

What makes Marlow special? The residents. Mel is grateful for the loyal customers who supported the café from day one and helped them win their local awards.
