Roger Gracie Academy: Martial Arts Centre in Marlow

One of the UK’s biggest Martial Arts Centres is right here in Marlow!

 

The community at Roger Gracie Academy (RGA) has been running in Marlow, under one brand name or another, since 1996 when owner and founder Paul Busby opened his Martial Arts school, originally starting in Spinfield School.


 

Having consistently grown over the years, Paul and RGA (Genesis Gym as it was known at the time), finally opened a full time Academy just across the road from the new location, above Coopers Coffee Shop in 2011, where it flourished for nearly 15 years.

 

As a staple of the local community for 30 years now, tens of thousands of residents from Marlow and the surrounding towns have walked through the doors, from nervous 4 year olds to professional athletes. Local resident Ross Kemp has been the gym ambassador for nearly 10 years.


 

The new centre is the largest Jiu-jitsu Academy in the UK, and the biggest Independent Combat Sports Centre in the South East. The Academy currently has over 600 members, with tuition provided by 15 fulltime coaches. The centre boasts 3 matted areas, a shop, treatment rooms, high end showers and changing facilities and much more.

 

With close ties and close personal links to the famous Gracie family, the new gym is a flagship Marital Arts destination for the South East. It is now run under the name of Roger Gracie, who is often regarded as the greatest Jiu-jitsu competitor of all time. This link not only attracts some of the best athletes in the world, but also provides an all important lineage for those going through the belt promotions, whether they are 4 or 74.

 

There are over 60 classes a week, from 7am-9pm daily, offering a range of Martial Arts styles including Jiu-jitsu, Kickboxing and Muay Thai (Thai Boxing):

4yrs – 7yrs (Kids)

8-10yrs: (Youth)

10-15 years: (Teens)

16yrs + (Adults)

4+ (Family classes, parents can train with their children).

 

It is Paul’s vision and hope that this centre will continue to provide a legacy of World Class Martial Arts, to all ages and abilities in Marlow, for many, many decades to come.
