Cotswold Contemporary Marlow has quickly become a vibrant hub for art lovers and curious passersby alike. Known for its carefully curated collection of contemporary works, the gallery brings together an exciting mix of emerging talent and established artists, offering something fresh and inspiring with every visit.

What makes Cotswold Contemporary Marlow particularly special is its commitment to making art accessible and engaging for the community. The gallery isn’t just a place to view art—it’s a space to experience it. From bold abstract paintings to striking figurative pieces, every exhibition is designed to spark conversation and connection. The welcoming atmosphere means you can browse at your own pace, ask questions, and truly immerse yourself in the stories behind the artwork.

This May, the gallery is bringing something truly exciting to Marlow: a live painting event featuring the acclaimed artist Harry Brioche. Taking place on May 16th from 12–2pm, this special event offers a rare opportunity to see an artist’s creative process unfold in real time. Known for his expressive and atmospheric landscapes, Harry Brioche captures the essence of a place with remarkable energy and emotion. Watching him work live is both inspiring and fascinating, whether you’re an experienced collector or simply appreciate the magic behind the finished piece.

For those of you who don’t know Harry, he was born in the Seychelles in 1965 and enjoyed a bright childhood growing up on the island of Mahe. It wasn’t until 1980 that the artist moved to England and settled in Manchester with his now wife and two children.

Harry considers himself a self-taught artist despite attending Maidstone College of Art. Following an ultimatum by his college lecturers to conform with the institution’s style and methods of painting or leave, he ultimately decided to go it alone. Harry went on to carve out a highly successful career as an illustrator and graphic designer.

From an early age Harry was captivated by the drama and beauty of the atmospheric and ever changing British sky and landscape. The often fleeting weather experienced in England was in sharp contrast to that of the Seychelles. This inspiration at such an early age was and continues to be ever present in his paintings. The artist’s main objective is to capture the atmosphere and spirit of a place. Ultimately, it is the mood and light within the painting that becomes the central theme.

Live painting events like this are a wonderful way to connect with art on a deeper level. You’ll see how layers build, how colours interact, and how a blank canvas transforms into something full of life and character.  Harry’s event promises an enjoyable and enriching afternoon. There’s no need to be an art expert—just bring your curiosity and enjoy the experience.

So, if you’re in or around Marlow, drop by Cotswold Contemporary Marlow on May 16th. Whether you stay for a few minutes or the full session, we would love to see you.
