Marlow Beauty Junkie Blog: Summer Skin, Saints and Sinners

My, oh my, this summer has been incredible, unless you are my garden, which is in a sad state of affairs (although, to be fair, I'm not blessed with being green-fingered at the best of times).

With air con units, fans and sunscreen out of stock, and a consistent hosepipe ban, anyone would think we've all been basking in a Mediterranean heatwave. Which, if you're anything like me after such a dreary and damp winter, has been well received. But how do we keep our skin glowing and safe with such adverse weather? Clogged pores from sunscreen, skin drying out from air con, ongoing drinks in a pub garden... it all takes its toll. They say 'Health is Wealth', and this applies to our skin health too.

Needless to say, sunscreen is an absolute necessity, although this should also be incorporated into our winter skin protocol too. I've been keeping a stash of Medik8 Physical Sunscreen with an SPF of 50 in each handbag and glove box of my car. (You may have all guessed by now, but I am the ultimate Medik8 fan and follower).

So, that's sunscreen covered, aka the obvious one, but what else does our skin crave when the temperatures rise? Much like our bodies needing water, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

It may seem like an oxymoron as your skin, much like mine, may feel sticky and in a pool of glistening sweat, but proper care and hydration are essential to keep us glowing through the summer months. A lightweight hyaluronic acid serum and high-quality Vitamin C concentrate will replenish thirsty skin cells with hydration and antioxidant power. Revived skin with a 'where have you been' glow? Yes please!

So, treatment-wise, if you're in need of a pamper and skin reset? You can't beat a HydraFacial in my eyes... the deep cleanse, toning, sculpting, resurfacing and antioxidant power pumped into your skin is a force to be reckoned with. Throw in a spot of LED light therapy and an added skin booster (I tend to go for the RegenGF, as who doesn't love a bit of anti-ageing?) and your skin will be forever thankful.

But for now, enjoy the rest of the stunning summer and keep showing your skin some love.

xoxo
