Marlow Beauty Junkie's Blog: Fake it till you make it

Facial fake tans...less orange streaks and more sun kissed glow. But with so many offering impeccable results which one do you chose?

Its like being a child in a sweetshop isn't it...do you go for the pretty packaging, the notorious name, the "best" brand, a delectable discount or if you're anything like me you do a whole host of reading and then still essentially pull out the 'eeny meany minie mo' tactic when in-store. Well, I've tried and tested many but here are my top three contenders which seem to work on a wide range of skin tones and textures.

Now I should probably say, to add context, I've got very fair (blue/grey in the winter) Irish skin which can flare up at the sight of any not so pleasant additives to skincare hence sticking to my good old faithful Medik8 year in year out. However, much to my disheartenment they don't currently offer any aspect of tanning in their extensive skincare range (although the Physical Sunscreen is a must!).So on we plod...

First up is Votary Hyaluronic Self-Tan Drops...a beautiful lightweight serum you add to your normal skincare. Smells delicious and applies like a dream. Builds a nice, natural looking tan and is full of moisturising properties such as hyaluronic acid (the holy grail), glycerine and aloe vera which are paired with calendula for skin soothing. It's a dream concoction and is easy enough to apply. Definitely 8/10 and absolutely worth a try.

Up next we have Tan Luxe Tan Drops, who now have an anti-ageing offering. I stuck with the good old faithful hyaluronic light/medium (although comes in medium/dark also). This used to be my absolute go-to for that sun kissed look as it plumps and hydrates the skin for a ravishingly radiant complexion. Sadly, as we age our skin microbiome changes significantly and I'm no stranger to this. And begrudgingly this is no longer the one for me. A solid 7/10 though and hugely affordable.

Last but by no means least we have Tropic Skincare Sun Spritz and my oh my was this quite the revelation. I first heard of this innovation from the 'Marlow Tropic Ambassador' Sophie Waterhouse when she glowed her way down the High Street and needless to say I had to try. This spritz is so easy to use it's actually unbelievable...a few sprays and you are done. And as you must all ascertain by now I love a quick fix (with some things at least). The clever clogs at Tropic have patented a formula called MetaGlow complex which works with your skin to achieve the glow you would naturally get from the sun! Astonishing yes! Does it work...yes! Boosts hydration, smells divine, although I am partial to anything Neroli scented and it also ticked the box for streak free too. Highly, highly recommend giving this a whirl as it has earned its place in my beauty bag...10/10.

Now as I write this we are in the midst of a fairly uncomfortable heatwave and whilst some of you will have braved the scorching sun most have stayed in the shade so may need that little sun kissed boost.

I'd love to know what you'd like tried and tested next or any tips and tricks?

Until next time..
