New Gym: Cultivate Fitness Opens in Marlow this August

There's an exciting new fitness concept opening in Marlow in August, with an open day on Saturday 1st August and officially open on Monday 3rd August.

We spoke to Beth, Head Strength Coach to find out more about the space and what will make Cultivate Fitness such a great place to train and find your fitness tribe!

What is the concept of Cultivate Fitness and what types of classes do you offer?

Joining a gym is easy, actually sticking at it is the hard bit, that's what Cultivate is all about.

We’re more than a gym. It’s a place where people come to get stronger and fitter, but it’s also somewhere you can switch off for an hour, have a laugh and train alongside genuinely good people. Everything’s coach led, so you don’t have to think about what you’re doing when you walk through the door. Just turn up and we’ll take care of the rest.

Our timetable includes Strength, Intro to Bootcamp, HYROX, Hybrid, Bootcamp (Metcon), HIIT, Core & Mobility, Ladies Lifting, Gents Club, Strong Mums, Strength Fundamentals and MRFC Senior Strength & Conditioning.

Some people join because they want to lose a bit of weight. Some want to get stronger. Some just want an hour where nobody’s asking them for anything.

Whatever gets you through the door, we’d just love to help you stick at it.

How are you different from other gyms?

The people, it sounds simple, but it’s true. Walk into Cultivate and you’ll probably hear people laughing before you hear a barbell hit the floor. Our coaches are mates so it's a very friendly atmosphere.

We work hard, don’t get me wrong, but we don’t think fitness has to be serious all the time. The coaching is a huge part of it too. You don’t need to know what to do when you walk in. You don’t need a programme scribbled in your Notes app. You don’t need to worry if you’re lifting the right weight. That’s our job, you just turn up, put the effort in and we’ll do the rest.

People often ask us what makes Cultivate special, it's never the kit, it’s never the building. it's always the people.

People usually come because they want to get fitter, they end up staying because they feel like they’re part of something.

Are you planning community events and socials?

The workouts are only half of it. We’re kicking things off with our Community Open Day from 1pm on Saturday 1st August at Marlow Rugby Club and everyone’s invited.

Come and have a nosy around the new place, meet the coaches, grab some food, bring the kids, have a drink and just see what we’re all about. Throughout the year we’ll also be putting on socials, charity events, workshops and community challenges because they’re some of the best bits of being part of Cultivate.

Do you offer personal training and nutrition coaching?

We do, alongside our group classes, Will Stallwood and Bethany Thompson both offer one to one and small group personal training for anyone wanting a bit more individual support.

For nutrition, we partner with Marlow Nutrition Co., who offer all Cultivate members a discount on their online nutrition coaching. It’s all about simple, sustainable habits that fit around real life.

Tell us about your coaching team.

Our coaching team is probably the thing we’re most proud of. Between us, we’ve coached everyone from complete beginners to elite athletes. Some of our coaches have worked at the very highest levels of sport. Others are the heartbeat of the Cultivate community. It’s a pretty special mix. Between the team we’ve got specialists in strength training, women’s health, HYROX, injury rehabilitation and athletic performance.

Who’s Cultivate for?

Pretty much anyone who’s ever thought… “I’d love to join a gym… but they’re just not really my thing.” We’ve got complete beginners, rugby players, HYROX addicts, busy mums and dads, people in their twenties and people in their sixties all training together.

Do you have any opening offers?

Everyone gets a free week to try Cultivate.

It gives you plenty of time to meet the coaches, try a few different classes and see what we’re all about before making any decisions. We reckon that’s a much better way to choose a gym than after just one session.
