The Story Behind Alléro Jewellery

I’m Melanie, the founder and maker behind Alléro Jewellery, an independent jewellery brand creating contemporary, handmade silver jewellery that sits somewhere between fashion and art.

I lived in Marlow for 13 years and, although I’m now just across the bridge in Bisham, Marlow remains a huge part of my life. My children have grown up with Marlow at the heart of their lives, and they inspired the name Alléro — a combination of their names, Alexa, Leo and Rowan.
I started learning silversmithing in 2020 during lockdown, and what began as something I could immerse myself in at home has grown into a craft and business that I’m incredibly passionate about. I’ve always been drawn to things that are a little different — unusual shapes, texture, movement and the beauty you find in imperfections. Silversmithing gave me a way to turn those ideas into something tangible.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about taking a piece of silver and transforming it by hand. I cut, shape, texture, fuse, solder and finish each piece myself. It’s a skilled, hands-on process, and I love the fact that no two handmade pieces are ever quite the same.
My designs range from subtle everyday jewellery to bold, sculptural statement pieces, but they all share the same ethos: jewellery should feel distinctive and considered — something with character and individuality, created with the skill, time and craftsmanship that simply isn’t possible with mass production.

Building Alléro has been a journey of learning and experimentation. I’ve developed my silversmithing skills, learnt the business and marketing side, designed and built my own website, developed the visual identity of the brand and taken Alléro out into the local community through events and markets. Along the way, I’ve gradually developed a style that feels genuinely mine.
I’m now working towards making Alléro my full-time career, growing the brand while continuing to design and make every piece myself. I’m currently working on something very different for my next collection — a project that has pushed my creativity and silversmithing in a new direction. I’m excited to share more about it soon.
