Whilst I’m not sure I’m the best person to be giving out style or fashion advice (my kids certainly wouldn’t think so, or my wife for that matter) I guess running a clothing shop for 25 years gives me some kind of insight.
Style is a very personal thing, it’s something you have to be personally comfortable with. I see a lot of guys in my industry who I think look fantastically stylish - I would never be brave enough to dress that way myself but I do think it’s good to step outside your comfort zone from time to time. If you feel like a fool, you probably look like one too and whilst there is comfort in the Simon Cowell 20 pairs of pale jeans and 20 black t-shirts approach, life is too short.

Fashion is a bit of a loaded word , it’s a difficult thing to follow and a risky world to retail in. I think it’s something you need to be mindful of, not something you should be a slave to and with that in mind, there are a few trends this season that are impossible to avoid and should be embraced by any stylish gentleman.
If you’ve visited mine or any clothing shop in the last 18 months you will have probably noticed a lot of green. This, in all its various shades, has become a staple of the modern man’s wardrobe - it’s a supremely versatile colour which pairs well with so many others and looks especially good against denim. It helps that it has its roots in the military, where so much of classic men’s clothing originated.
Other colours featuring heavily this season are the multiple shades of coral and peach, perfect for giving you that pop of summer colour and great with a tan.
Neutral colours are still abundant, with creams and beiges across all product categories. Sometimes these can be difficult with a pale complexion but you can never go wrong with white and if you’re brave enough (and not accident prone), you’ll find that white jeans are the most versatile you’ll own.

Of course, no wardrobe is complete without something blue and it would appear the blues to wear this season are cobalt and royal blue - brighter than the ubiquitous navy blue, but no less versatile and looks great with the aforementioned white jeans.
With regards to shape - things continue to get looser, this is a trend that people seem quick to embrace. The skinny jean took years to take hold on Marlow High Street but people are apparently thrilled to be going back to something looser in the leg department. When it comes to trousers, looser fits are always a boon in summer as they leave some room for the air to flow and are no doubt better for fertility too.
Linen, the fabric of summer, lends itself to a more relaxed fit too - there is nothing better to wear on a hot summer’s day than a loose linen shirt, at home in myriad settings and no wardrobe should be without one.
For those more casual moments, the good old T-shirt still reigns supreme. Available in pretty much any colour you can think of, plain or elaborately adorned, the humble tee is a great gateway into trying out a new look. Bold back prints still feature heavily in most collections but if you’re looking to be a bit smarter, plains, textures and stripes are the way to go.
Whilst I could go on, I run the risk of claiming that pretty much everything is ‘hot for 2026’
When it all boils down to it, style, fashion, whatever you want to call it, is a highly individual thing. After all, one man’s meat is another man’s poison. The best thing to do is give different things a try and find your style - this is where visiting a shop will always win out over shopping online. Granted, I might be a little biased, but a man has to make a living, right?
